Growth Mindset

People with a growth mindset believe that if they’re not as good as they’d like to be at something, they can work at it and improve that skill. Setbacks are seen as new challenges to overcome, and failure can be used as a jump to bigger and better things. 

Psychologist Professor Carol Dweck coined the term and you can watch a video of her explaining this concept in more detail here.

 

Resourcefulness

This one may be self-explanatory. By being resourceful, you are finding quick and clever ways to help overcome difficult situations. This does not just benefit you, but your team and clients as well. By having a resourcefulness mindset you can create new opportunities for yourself.

 

In-service

In short? Give more than you get. Don’t make your clients work harder than you do. You give 51% and get back 49%. By always giving more than you get you promote the idea that you are an easy and reliable person to work with. By going the extra mile you gain your customers’ respect and loyalty.

 

Team of go-givers 

You want a team of people around you that are going to keep going and give their all, in all situations. You also want to be this person for your team too. This determination can be a really good morale boost for yourself and your team. 

 

Sharp

You want to be on the ball and quick. By being sharp, you are more aware of your work and fewer opportunities are going to be missed. You are consistently looking for new ways to be a productive and helpful team member and learning new skills to develop yourself. It is about working smarter, not harder.

 

Enthusiastic 

Again this one may be obvious, but being enthusiastic, not just in the workplace but in your general life pays off. By being enthusiastic, we execute our roles with energy and we treat our client’s business like our own.

Extreme Ownership

Own up to your mistakes. Hold yourself accountable. You are responsible for yourself and only by owning your mistakes can you learn from them and progress. By showing this level of ownership you instil trust in yourself and the trust of others around you. When you work with a team that takes ownership of their problems, those problems get solved.

This term comes from Jocko Willink, a former Navy SEAL who wrote the book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win. A video of him talking about this concept is available here
